Fair Winds to Eclipse

Many miles and memories shared together.

S/V Happy Times and s/v Eclipse parted ways today after six months of traveling together as buddy boats—3,000 miles by sea and 2,000 by land.

It’s hard to say good-bye to any cruiser whose company we’ve enjoyed. We form instant friendships with people we like in the cruising community, because we never know when we’ll cross paths again. We must make the most of every moment together.

It’s especially bittersweet for us, because Mike, Mikayla and I have shared so many highs (Machu Picchu) and lows (diving at Klein Bonaire) with Geoff, Michelle, Jerome, Miles and Alec. Many other events also occurred: countless games of cribbage and nurts, midday breaks with gourmet coffee and chocolates, swimming competitions, boat repairs, fishing contests, night passages, squalls with eight-foot waves and six-second intervals, birthdays and anniversaries.

We wish our friends good weather for the remainder of their odyssey and best wishes for safely making landfall in new careers and new schools.
