Who doesn’t love a wedding? S’Mores by a campfire? MSU football in the crisp autumn air? Mikayla and I will enjoy all this and more when we return to the States. What we’re really excited about is shopping for new clothes for Europe.
We’ve been shopping online to get an idea of what’s available. Ironically, one of the prettiest coats is designed by Nicole Miller and made in Guatemala, our current home. It costs a whopping $265 so we’ll definitely pass it up.
Mikayla and I decided that we must have a pair of dark boots, black pants and scarves. We don’t want to look like gringas when we stroll down the Champs-Élysées. We consulted our friend Lwencia, a French native who lives in Versailles, and she’s offered to take us shopping. What a relief!
She sent us a few photos of items to consider. Mikayla recently bought a dress in burgundy from Forever 21 for her uncle’s wedding so she’s set in that department. We’ll also be on the lookout for fashions in teal, a color that was popular about ten years ago.
Since my wardrobe mostly consists of tee shirts and quick-dry shorts, I may need more help in the style department. I decided to google fashions for women over 60. Helen Mirren looks fantastic in a two-piece bathing suit! She has the kind of body that women half her age would be happy to have. Anna Wintour, of course, always looks stylish. Must help to be the editor-in-chief of Vogue.
My favorite fashion find is a blog called Advanced Style. It features fashionable women over 60 who have found and flaunt their own style. One 99-year-old New Yorker, Rose, looked great in a Hermes belt over a print top. Another stood out with a punk hairstyle and mixed patterns.
I felt rather mousey compared to them — until Mikayla said I could probably wear fashions for women over forty. Neiman-Marcus, here I come!
