Many brides have a good reason to thank Terry Haggard, and they probably don’t know who she is. She’s the fairy godmother who has found a way to make available beautiful bridal gowns at an economical price.
Terry has spent the last seven years working at a bridal shop near Cincinnati, Ohio. When the season ends and new stock comes into the store, she takes the unsold gowns and donates them to her church’s secondhand shop. It turns around and sells them at a reasonable price to someone who might not otherwise afford one. Everybody wins. The store’s owners gain a tax write-off, Terry helps others, and the brides wear the gown of their dreams on their special day. Soon a church in rural Kentucky will benefit from Terry’s kindness.
Mikayla and I couldn’t resist our friend’s invitation to “shop her basement” where she stores the gowns she’s going to donate. Mikayla tried on three or four that Terry picked out, and my daughter looked beautiful in each one. After reminding Mikayla that she won’t need a wedding gown for another ten years, Terry set aside one to keep for her. Isn’t that just like a fairy godmother?
